Antique French Provincial Round Oak Table with Carved Floral Apron - 29½"

This round antique oak table spent years earning its keep in Patricia's upstairs office at Chanteduc, the Wells farmhouse and cooking school near Vaison-la-Romaine. Patricia describes it simply as "practical and pretty" — two words that, in her hands, amount to the highest praise. The table is built from warm, honey-toned oak, its oval top worn to a smooth, even patina that speaks to decades of steady use. The apron is shaped with a gentle scalloped profile and centred with a hand-carved floral motif. Four turned legs, each with a bulbous upper section tapering to a pad foot, are joined by a cross-stretcher at the base, lending the piece both visual balance and structural solidity. Patricia notes that it seats two people perfectly for dinner, and it is easy to see why — compact enough to tuck into a corner, characterful enough to anchor a room. It would work just as well as a writing table, a breakfast spot or a side table in a sitting room. Set two chairs around it, lay the table simply, and let it do what it has always done best.
