Early 20th Century French Louis XV Style Console - 48½"

This Louis XV style wall console from the early 20th century, has a serpentine silhouette with a shaped, molded marble top, originally rose and later unusually overpainted in soft grey with veining, giving it a distinctive and unexpected character. The carved wood base features a lively Rococo apron with a central shell cartouche, scrolling motifs, and acanthus, set on slender cabriole legs joined by an X-shaped stretcher with a foliate mount. Finished in later sage-green paint now gently rubbed, the piece has a shallow profile of elegant scale. This Louis XV style console brings elegance and lightness to any interior, its slender legs and curving apron softening architectural lines with a touch of Rococo grace.
